This article highlights findings from a study which took place in an adult bronchiectasis referral clinic in Israel to explore differences between patients with bronchiectasis, with and without upper airway involvement.

The study findings may suggest a higher disease burden in patients with upper airway symptoms and the authors of the study hypothesise that upper airway symptoms precede and may in some cases lead to the development of bronchiectasis.
